WeCreate Challenges for 2010 from CLI

Hi everyone,

Are your students up for a challenge?

Broadcast news is the first of the WeCreate Challenges for 2010 and students have two weeks to complete it and upload their news story!

Students are asked to tell the world what's happening in their local community by creating a 60 second news story that would be suitable for broadcast on a nightly news program. Each news story will be showcased in the ‘Newsroom’ on the Broadcast website.

The Broadcast News Challenge opens on 22 February 2010 and closes on 8 March 2010.

This challenge is part of WeCreate which includes the Connected Learning Awards and the WeCreate challenges and offers students even greater opportunities to use ICT in meaningful, engaging and creative ways.

WeCreate will be conducted throughout 2010 and both the Award and Challenges can be mapped across a range of curriculum areas.

Early bird notice! The 12th Annual Tooth Tally Project begins soon!

Cheryl Hill is looking for Australian schools 

that would like to join this 

INTERNATIONAL project.

The excitement of counting, graphing, reading and writing about losing teeth is beginning again next February. So get in early and get ready to join the fun!!

Our year 1 classes really enjoyed this

 TOOTH TALLY unit 
last year and I would like to do it again for year 1, 2010. 
I really recommend this project .

OVERVIEW

The Tooth Tally Project integrates a common event 
in the life of a first year student –losing a tooth 
– with reading, maths, writing, HSIE and technology.

Using "lost tooth" data collected in the classroom               
year one students will practice counting skills and 
collecting data. 

 

They will learn to make and interpret graphs,
develop map skills, increase word processing ability,
use a scanner and communicate online using a wiki site.

   

It's a wonderful opportunity for children to realise that  

in spite of many differences 

                     children all around the world have many similarities, too.
